“Each time You speak of Me I am listening, says the Lord. I listen and record all the discussions and thoughts you bring up about Me. And know that in days of trial, I remember those words and separate you from calamity.”
Then they that feared the Lord spake often to one another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name (Malachi 3:16).
We all love to get personal notes and cards from people we love. Many people cherish the kind words written in them and read them again in the future. People also love to hear when someone talks fondly of them. As people, it builds our confidence and makes us feel loved. According to Malachi 3:16, we see that the Lord is not much
different in that regard. Each time people discussed Him amongst themselves, the Lord was listening. Not only was He listening, but He created a memory book! As you read further along in Malachi 3, you find that God promised that those who make Him part of their conversations will be spared from harm and separated from those who leave the Lord out of their lives.
So make it a priority to talk about God with your friends and family. Make Him part of the conversation and include Him in what is happening. Just like it means a lot to you, it means a lot to the Lord because He loves to fellowship with you. Remember, in everything you discuss, the Lord is listening!
Lord, I love You and want to make You a part of the conversations I have with others. Thank You for remembering the things I say. Forgive me for times I didn’t include You when I should have, and remind me that You are always listening. I love You, Lord. Amen.
