The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works (Psalms 145:9).

For various reasons, the idea gets put into the heads of people that God is cranky and angry and always ready to strike. The last thing the devil wants us to feel confident about is the goodness of God. The Bible has far more to say about the good and merciful side of God than His judgment. And we find that whenever the judgment of God fell, it was upon those who deliberately defied and rejected Him. When an entire generation in Israel was overthrown in the wilderness, it was because they tempted God. To tempt God literally means to say, “God, are you with us or not?” (see Exod. 17:7) They hatefully assumed that God brought them into the wilderness to kill them. They simply refused to believe, even after all God did to deliver them from Egypt, that the Lord was good. Sure, they experienced some situations that looked bleak, but instead of referring back to how God helped through similar situations in the past, they shook their fist against God and Moses.

As believers, we need to take an immovable approach to everything in life by always saying, “The Lord is good to all.” His mercy hovers over His people. He wants to bless and help you in ways that you couldn’t even come up with in your own mind. So just lay your head upon Him and rest in the fact that He is good to you today!

Father, I know You are always good. Your mercy hovers over me today. I will not doubt Your goodness and that You will always take care of me. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
